Coming up on Imperfect Impulses are video tutorials. Each tutorial will go along with each class being taught at Scrappin’ Time. The next class is scheduled for 7/15/12 @ 2:00 PM. I plan on getting the first video up in the next week (hopefully sooner)! These are the perks of signing up for my classes and following my blog…free advice. I’m like a cheap shrink who deals only in crafts! Awesome, right?!
Punchinella is all the rage in the Art Journaling world. What is Punchinella? It’s sequin waste. It’s a sheet of plastic with holes cut out of it which art journalers use as a template to make circles on their pages. It can be very hard to find Punchinella, so as a cheap and innovative way of adding circles to your art journal page, head down to the local hardware store and purchase Drywall Joint Tape (right around $5.00) which can be inked, painted, and dyed and used as a sticker or use the backing of the tape as a stencil! For larger holes, look for disposable aluminum grill toppers (I found one at the dollar store!) and spray away! Hope this technique helps you out and I look forward to seeing you in class!

Have you ever purchased a new item or supply and knew you’d never use it in a scrapbook, but just HAD to have it? Now you have a spot to play with all those goodies and learn things about new items, new techniques, and most importantly, yourself. Come join Aaron to start your journey through art/inspiration journaling. Class will be approximately 2 hours long. Instructor will provide books to upcycle for journals, items to help create texture, and the full line of Dylusions Ink Sprays. Students should bring scissors, permanent pens, and their imaginations! Optional supplies include: acryclic inks, collage elements, Distress Inks, and any other tools you may want to use. This is all about you and your imagination!
***Note: You will NOT be recreating the samples displayed in the store. You will be using the supplies and techniques provided by the instructor to create your own art journal page.
My name is Aaron and I am here to both teach and learn. First, I’ll give you a little bit of information about me and then I’ll tell you why you should care about this blog.
I’m going to be 30 next year, I’m a good 100 pounds overweight, and I’m going bald. Prince Charming, eh? Oh, well…I’ve accepted my imperfections and Im here to help you do the same thing. I started crafting as a kid and segued into scrapbooking as an adult. After my son was born, I found myself with little time to craft and when I did, the projects were always about my son and were never things that challenged me creatively. Enter art journaling, or as I like to call it,”inspiration journaling”. In my inspiration journal, I’m free to experiment and mess up. I can make a mess and call the results “art”.
Why did I call this blog “Imperfect Impulses”? I believe that it’s the mistakes we make in crafts that makes our crafts art. So many scrapbookers are obsessed with perfection, with straight lines, perfect frames, and EVERYTHING revolves around the almighty die cutting machine. Imperfect Impulses is here to help you embrace those ideas that you think may not work or may not look perfect. If you strive for imperfection, you’ll never fail.
Why should you care about this blog and/or taking my classes at Scrappin’ Time? I’ll teach you how to embraces your imperfections, to spill your emotions into your work, and to keep you inspired. We will learn all about art or inspiration journaling and use our journals to learn techniques that will help with scrapbooking, mixed media projects, and just about everything else you will work on.
Stay tuned for pictures and dates for the first class!
