We can be rough on ourselves, can’t we? We’re always hard on ourselves for being too fat, too skinny, too stupid, too depressed, not good enough, not happy enough, etc. There is something wonderful about all of us, though. This is your spot to dig deep and think about what your favorite thing about you is.
Art Journal Prompt: The thing I love most about me is ____________________.
Honesty Moment: I am too fat, I am too lazy, I drink too much, and I have absolutely no patience. However, I see the world in a different way than many other people. The thing I love most about me is my ability to see beauty in everything. I haven’t always had this ability. It’s very recent. I used to look at people’s art journal pages and think “what a mess”! Now, I can see all of the beautiful layers and all of the stunning techniques that went into making that mess. Sometimes you can’t look at things as a whole, but have to break it down and see things for more than just the finished product. One of my art journal pages touches on that. I titled it “I am more than the sum of my parts”. Here is a picture of it.
For this page, I journaled on top of a gessoed page, sprayed a ton of dylusions inks, added some die-cut negative pieces out of chipboard, some drywall joint tape, and then mod podged some tissue paper all scrunched up on top of everything. Some additional Dylusions sprayed on top and some stamps outlined with a white Uniball Signa pen finished the page off for me. It’s kind of ugly, but I love all of the different techniques I used on this page!
