Are you tired of creating GORGEOUS backgrounds using Distress Ink, Dylusions Ink Sprays, or other water-based colors to just have it all run on you when you try to add something wet on top of it? Well, have I got the solution for you!
Spray a clear fixative over your background and then add a layer of clear gesso. The fixative will hold your water-based colors in place and the gesso will allow you to add more and more and more media without messing up the bottom layer. You can use Krylon Workable Fixative, Clear Acrylic Sprays, or any other spray sealer that is clear. Make sure it’s a spray with a fine mist, though. Distress Inks and Dylusions react to moisture, so if it’s a fine mist, it won’t affect the colors. Go, play, and tell me if this did or didn’t work for you. Maybe you just found a new way to create a cool new background!
