Hey, everyone! I have been so busy I haven’t had time to get into my studio lately, but I finally found time to start a mixed media canvas project and finally start the series I’ve been promising. Stay tuned for the series video/pictures, but here is the mixed media canvas project.
My son is obsessed with the mini series “The 10th Kingdom” which begins with a rendition of the Rose Royce classic “Wishing on a Star”. The song is beauitful as is the sentiment, so I figured I’d capture it in a mixed media project.
I started with a 12×12 canvas with gesso, dylusions, map pages, music pages, and acrylic paint. Lots of layers of stencils, modelling paste, and india ink later, I had a base for my canvas. Then I took some old chipboard letters, colored them with Postbox Red Dylusions Ink Sprays, used a script stamp with Archival Ink, and then covered them in UTEE. Finally, I outlined each letter using a small brush and Titanium White Liquitex Basics paint. The mesh in the background was one of those lumbar-supports for chairs you can buy at Walgreens (2 for $10.00). 😉
Hope you like it! Stay tuned for my new series!
