As I would assume most people do, I find it hard to make time to art journal or create in my studio regularly. I find an art journal page usually takes me somewhere between 45 minutes and 2 hours to complete. Well, what if it didn’t HAVE to take that long? Good news for all of us, they DON’T have to take that long!
Many art journal pages are supremely crafted, expertly tweaked, and skillfully polished until they sparkle and shine like the gems they ought to be. Not all of them have to be so perfect, though. I am going to do a video very shortly creating an art journal page in 5 minutes or less. The inspiration for this idea comes from one of my all-time journaling heroes Miss Jennibellie and also from Kim‘s Finish in Five series (which I miss!). Jennibellie finished a page in a fixed amount of time (or at least attempted to!) and it got me thinking that sometimes less is more. If I can create more 5 minute pages, I will be getting more product made while spending less time doing so!
In anticipation (because all of you simply can’t wait for my next video, right?) of this upcoming video (perhaps a mini-series?), I challenge you to attempt to make a page in 5 minutes or less. Use a few minutes to plan the page out and gather supplies but time yourself in actually creating the page. I may fudge the time a bit by not counting drying time (since that totally doesn’t count, right?!) but all-in-all a 5 minute page should be a good challenge for us all!
Hopefully my first video will come soon. If not, yell at me!
