I will be honest, this page is not one of my favorites, but I made it and figured I’d share it. I used acrylic, collage, a bunch of stamping with Distress Ink (which ends up getting mostly washed away), and some India Ink.
The reason I share pages I may not be personally pleased with is to show you that sometimes it’s okay to just create and make a mess. It seems like so many artists out there create fabulous spreads each and every time, but you shouldn’t feel pressured to constantly be perfect. Mistakes happen, ugly pages happen, and the mistakes and ugly pages are what helps us grow and learn.
This is a super quick, simple, and pretty little page. The whole point of keeping this page simple to make was that I should feel “no pressure” to create. Sometimes I get so caught up in worrying about making sure I have a video ready to upload to YT that I forget that it’s all about the creative experience. Hope this quick little video inspires you to create a simple page. No pressure, though.
This is one of my shortest videos in a while, but I wanted to create something quickly with a lot of pop! I managed to achieve both! I apologize that I missed the first steps of this page, but I’ll explain what I did in the video and it wasn’t something you’ve never seen me do before.
The moral of this page is to try to keep looking at your art as a novice artist would. Continue to challenge yourself and realize that you’ve only just begun the journey that is “art”. Thank you, as always, for watching!

Here are some of my favorite things from UmWowStudio:
In my last video, I used Braille paper from Retro Art Cafe. This is a fun website with a ton of great and really reasonable prices. The prices are great, the service is impeccable, and the products are wonderful. If you haven’t checked out their product selection yet, you should. One of my favorite products is their amazing collection of shrines and stencils.
***NOTE: I am not paid by, nor am I affiliated with, Retro Art Cafe. I simply LOVE their products and love sharing things I love!
Hello, all! As I continue to work in my trash-to-art journal book, I found myself wanting to journal about my relationship with one of my best friends. While I’m not particularly crazy about the final look of this page, I did some fun techniques, managed to save the first title I wrote on the page and truly love the sentiment and what the page represents.
I nearly didn’t get a video out this week, but my wife slept in for an hour later than I did, so I hauled tucchus to the studio and editing this video in that time!
***NOTE: Sorry about the sound…sometimes my computer doesn’t cooperate with me.
