GASP! I forgot to upload a video this week! Okay, that’s a lie. I don’t have any videos ready. I think this is the one week you may not get anything from me. I’m finishing up my classes (my last final is next Wednesday 12/10!), so I will probably be MIA for a while. BUT when I come back, I’m coming back strong! I’ve got the new 7 Dots Studio paper line designed by DeeDee Catron and it’s STUNNING!If you haven’t checked out either of these fantastic people/papers you must do it! I promise you will be seeing it soon from me!
As I amp myself up for the next (and last!) school year of college before I graduate with my BA in Sociology, I would like to know, what type of content you (my blog viewers) would like to see. As you can tell, I tend to spend most of my time recording videos for YouTube, but it can be very time consuming. You have to record the artistic process, copy the files, edit the video, voiceover the video, convert the video, upload the video, and create a thumbnail image and corresponding blog post. Each video takes around 4 or 5 hours of work to make.
SOOOOOOOO…perhaps this semester I will focus on some photo-based tutorials and blog posts so that I keep my mojo going and don’t leave you all hanging! That being said, what types of techniques, products, color combinations, etc. are you interested in seeing? Would you like to see me working on canvas, in my art journal, on tags? I like France Papillon‘s audience engagement with her Journal on Monday series, so let’s have a go at it with all of you Imps out there, eh?
Please make sure you head over to France Papillon‘s blog and check out her latest video which is her 100th Journal on Monday video. The page is gorgeous, France is a sweetheart, and her art is truly awe-inspiring.
PLUS, if you share a step-by-step art journal page process or video, she’ll enter you into a giveaway!!!
Thank you all for being here, reading my blog and watching my videos! My Imps are the best!

In my last video, I used Braille paper from Retro Art Cafe. This is a fun website with a ton of great and really reasonable prices. The prices are great, the service is impeccable, and the products are wonderful. If you haven’t checked out their product selection yet, you should. One of my favorite products is their amazing collection of shrines and stencils.
***NOTE: I am not paid by, nor am I affiliated with, Retro Art Cafe. I simply LOVE their products and love sharing things I love!
I began watching Laura (or “The Artist Pagan” as I knew her on YouTube) early in my art journaling days. The first video of Laura’s I saw which made my ears perk up was her DIY Washi Tape video. Another one of her videos which has not only changed my art journaling career but my view on things artsy is her DIY Stencils video. I will probably be doing a video showing this process to all of my subscribers and crediting Laura, of course!
An embarrassing story about my new friendship with Laura, I didn’t even know who she was when she added me as a friend on Facebook until I saw her post something using her “Crochet Zombie” or “Artistic Pagan” monikers!
I can’t thank Laura enough for the support she’s shown me and encourage anyone and everyone reading this to check out Laura’s YouTube channel, if you haven’t already!
As you all know (if you watch my YouTube videos), the fall semester of college (or university for my international Imps) starts at the end of August and I will have considerably less time to create art and share it with all of you as I will be full-time with 12 credits and also work full time (not to mention the family). The plan to avoid a months-long stretch of silence on Imperfect Impulses is to get a TON of videos made before I go back to school and schedule them all approximately a week apart. I hope to release a new video every Sunday morning.
In order to achieve this feat, I have decided to record a bunch of ICAD videos and also to record my 5 minute art journal pages. While these videos will be short, they will still be jam-packed with artsy techniques and will be easier for me to make even when I’m in school.
If you’re a fan of the ABC’s of Art Journaling series, you’ll know that I have only 8 letters left in that journal. The “S” page is already done, edited, and scheduled to appear this Sunday morning (8/4/13). It’s also one of my favorite spreads even though it features NO pink or purple!
So, get ready in the next couple of weeks to begin getting weekly videos from me, even though they may be shorter. I promise to still have some of my trademark wit (or lack thereof), stellar singing (subjective, I know), and an all-around good time. Keep an eye out for my silliness on Sunday mornings on YouTube, or also here on my blog, unless I alert you about a week off here on my blog. After all, would it be Imperfect Impulses without Aaron being a total nerd?
